UPVC Replacement Door Handles As time passes the handles on your doors will wear out and require replacement. It is crucial to keep the same dimensions as the old handles when replacing them. To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however in the event that this is not possible, you may remove it to take measurements. It is important to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks. The design of the latest cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This will help to deflect an attack and protect your door. There are cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off.
